Barolo Riserva

  • Borgogno
  • Piemonte, Italy

Method & Production

A great vintage characterized by ideal climatic conditions over the course of the year. A cold winter with few snowfalls was followed by a rainy spring. Hot and dry weather lasted all
summer which helped the grapes to mature perfectly. September and October were dominated by warm temperatures during the day and cooler temperatures at night, which favoured a good picking. The wine underwent regular fermentation and submerged cap maceration with racking off at the end of September. It was then aged for one year in concrete vats and three years in big Slavonian oak barrels and was bottled in April 2003.

Tasting notes

Orangey-red colour revealing a mature nebbiolo, but the nose shows this wine is still full of life. Soft and silky, this beautifully carved wine has seamless tannins and a very long finish. Dried red fruit, orange rind, earth, mushroom and delicate asian spice. Perfect to drink now. Magnificent wine.
