Donna Laura is a tribute to a remarkable force of a woman, whose warmth, wisdom and devotion to family and culture inspired founder Lia Tolaini Banville. At the age of six, Lia travelled from Canada to her family’s ancestral home near Lucca, where she met Aunt Laura and formed an immediate bond. Through years of visits, Laura introduced her to the rich traditions of Tuscany, from its art, food and wine to its deep sense of heritage. Those experiences ultimately inspired Lia and her family to return to Tuscany and put her passion and skills into a winery project, a project created by women, inspired by women, and nurtured by women.
Focused predominantly on Sangiovese, Donna Laura combines traditional Tuscan heritage with a modern, sustainable approach to viticulture. The vineyards are farmed according to organic principles, with meticulous attention given to soil health, biodiversity and vine balance. Cover crops are planted to naturally enrich the soils, green harvesting is used where necessary to improve fruit quality, and the use of harmful chemicals is avoided in favour of a healthier vineyard ecosystem. At the Tolaini winery, a modern facility equipped with the latest technology, every decision is guided by a singular goal: to craft pure, expressive Sangiovese wines that faithfully reflect their Tuscan terroir.
