Paolo Saracco

This renowned winery run by Paolo Saracco is based in the village of Castiglione Tinella in an area called the Langhe Astigiane. It is a zone widely regarded as the prime area for the production of Moscato d’Asti, the unique wine consisting of partially fermented must. The vines stand in chalky marl soil mixed with sand where the White Muscat grape has been growing since ancient times. Paolo manages all aspects of the production and cultivation of the property’s 40 hectares to produce nearly 400,000 bottles, almost all of which is Moscato.

Tipically this remarkable wine displays a mature nose of white peaches and fresh grapes and a creamy sweetness with lively citrus acidity; perfect as an aperitif, at the end of the meal or simply on its own. Moscato d’Asti deserves to be recognized as one of the world’s greatest wines, if simply for its capability to deliver pure sensory pleasure.

Producer Fact SheetDetails

"This wine comes to us from one of the finest producers of sweet Moscato that I know of. The Saracco 2016 Moscato d'Asti is a fresh and cheerful wine that is best consumed young when those aromas are so pure and beautiful. The bouquet is redolent of honey, sweet peach and exotic fruit. In the mouth, the wine is creamy and rich." 92 points, Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate (August 2017)

(Moscato d'Asti 2015) "Intensely aromatic, this opens with tantalizing scents of citrus blossom, yellow peach and aromatic herb. The creamy, foaming palate offers apricot, candied tangerine zest, lemon drop and a note of crystallized ginger. Bright acidity and a hint of thyme lift the rich flavors." 92 points, Kerin O'Keefe, The Wine Enthusiast (December 2016)

(Moscato d'Asti 2016) 'Tre Bichieri' prize, Guida Vini d’Italia 2018, Gambero Rosso
