Le Cupole

  • Tenuta di Trinoro
  • Toscana, Italy

Method & Production

Le Cupole is the second label from Tenuta di Trinoro, the first vintage of which was 1995. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Each variety is fermented separately in 50hl stainless steel vats, with periodic pump-overs and punch-downs for maximum extraction. Aging for 8 months in French oak barrels of 1, 2 and 3 years old; then 11 months in cement tanks.

Tasting notes

"The 2021 Le Cupole (a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot) is the well-priced entry-level red from one of the most prolific and creative wine estates in Tuscany. Le Cupole is velvety and full-bodied with dark fruit, dried cherry and sweet earth or terracotta. This is an incredible value. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, and the wine is matured in neutral barrique and cement. Some 100,000 bottles were released.” 94 points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate (May 2023)
