Champagne Granzamy Pere et Fils is a small, family run Champagne house located in the village of Venteuil, on the chalky hillsides of the Marne Valley. The Granzamy family has been growing grapes in the Marne Valley since 1907. Now, under the management of Alain Granzamy, the estate continues to produce wines of versatility, which bridge the gap between Champagne designed as an aperitif and Champagne made for food.
With vines situated across Epernay, Granzamy is predominantly red focussed, with the majority of their sites planted with Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. Pinot Meunier has historically taken a subordinate position in comparison to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in the Champagne world. However, it grows particularly well in the Marne Valley, and here a small number of growers are concentrating their efforts to bring Pinot Meunier into the limelight. Their goal is to showcase the grape’s ability to produce quality Champagnes independently and not just as a blend complement.
Granzamy is one of those growers. The Cuvée Brut Tradition is 100% Pinot Meunier and produced using the traditional method, which exemplifies the Marne Valley Pinot Meunier’s distinctive characteristics and its potential to stand out as a single varietal wine. The Cuvée Brut Rosé highlights Pinot Meunier as the majority of the blend and is fruit-forward and well-rounded.
